Costs of WAR

Time to get those thoughts back on track!

Listening to Springsteens Devils and dust album (right now) makes one think about Iraq war and the nasty implications for the innocent people engaged in this war!

Danish goverment, and danish people I might add, still has troops down there. We are ofcause redrawing them, well could there be a worse timing? I think not.

First off all, and wellknown, politicians in Denmark, in the US and around the world lied in order to boost their self esteem and in order to gain power of oil ressources etc. This the first tragegy, 600000 people died in Iraq based on this lie. Well they say - shouldnt Sadam be removed, my best quess is yes, but why didnt we use diplomatic intervention. My solution is not to sanction, rather to establish a binding relationship, like the one functioning in EU. Simply to trade versus political development.

I strongly belive this could have made the world a different, yeah Sadam did kill a lot of people (if what they say is right) but now we are not an inch better - we are actually worse, because we justify our killings in a hopeless fight for democracy!

When I then on top of all this see how we constantly refuse Iraq refugees at our border, well it makes me sad, sad to live hear and sad to see the nature off people in this country. It is something that will last as a dark shadow over our country, and I might ad, if there is a god - this will not be forgotton on the gates. Rather, since I really dont know if there is a god, I would like to think that the people responsible for this disarster, will lie on their deathday with no peace at all.

We are obligied to take care of the Iraq refugees for crying out loud! Because we are humans and because we are directely linked to their needs and to their sorrows.

Back to the point where we should discuss redrawal of troops - the state of the iraq nation has newer been worse, I am sure that the (still just a quess) iraq police can not controlle the situation, but still, a danish soldier died - terrible some might add - but I am strongly surpriced that people wonder that much, We are at war - people die at war - not many people are spending a second on all the innocent iraqs dying everyday.

My point is, if we take out the danish forces now, then we have done the biggest crime of them all - we ruined the infrastructure of iraq, and then left them to a uncontrolable civil war - when we talk about this in 10 years I am sure the death numers will be in millions. The everlasting question to people engaging war is then: Did you realize the responsability?

No my dear fellow world citizens - war is hardly necessary ever, go to http://costofwar.com/ to see the costs of the iraq war, and imagine how much diplomatic work we could have done for this amount. Also the cost does not account for future loss off labour in the US etc. more on this here by stiglitz:
http://www.boston.com/news/world/articles/2006/01/08/economists_say_cost_of_war_could_top_2_trillion/

Topping 2 trillion dollars or $2.000.000.000.000, or 40 times the original estimate of pentagon! It is way out people!

The worst thing is that all these estimates do not count the future consequences in Iraq -

In the end I must state that we are responsible for parts of this, and that we are not yet willingly to take on that responability!

So mister Krarup and all your christian friends - please get your act together and let us help the traumatized people of Iraq
